Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the ChegouLisboa app and service. By using the app you agree to them. The standard license terms of the app store you downloaded the app from also apply to the app binary (on iOS, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement).

1. The service

ChegouLisboa is a European Portuguese (pt-PT) learning app: lessons, spaced-repetition study, pronunciation practice, and a translator for learning purposes. Content is educational material for language learners — it is not certified language instruction, and we don't guarantee any particular learning outcome or the accuracy of any individual translation.

2. Your account

Some features (saving content, syncing, premium) require signing in with Apple or Google. You're responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings; deletion is immediate and permanent (see the Privacy Policy).

3. Free tier and Premium

The free tier includes core features with usage limits (for example, a limited number of translations per day). Limits may be adjusted over time.

Premium unlocks the full premium feature set and is available as:

• Monthly subscription — auto-renews every month until cancelled.
• Yearly subscription — auto-renews every year until cancelled.
• Lifetime — a one-time purchase; no renewal.

What "Lifetime" covers: the premium feature set as it exists at the time of your purchase, plus updates and improvements to those features, for as long as we operate the ChegouLisboa service. Substantial new features we build in the future — for example, features powered by additional AI services with their own ongoing costs — may be offered as separate optional purchases or subscriptions, for lifetime users and subscribers alike. We will never remove or downgrade the premium features you purchased.

Fair use on metered features: features that cost us money per use (such as translation) are provided for personal learning use. Premium usage well beyond what an individual learner plausibly needs — or automated/scripted usage — may be rate-limited to protect the service for everyone.

All purchases are processed by the app store you bought them through — on iOS, Apple, via your App Store account (and Google Play, when the Android app becomes available). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period — on iOS, cancel anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Prices may change for future periods; the app store will notify you and, where required, ask you to agree before a higher price applies. Refunds are handled by the app store under its policy — on iOS, request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Deleting the app or your account does not by itself cancel a subscription.

4. Your content

Phrases you save remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them only as needed to provide sync and the features you use, as described in the Privacy Policy. Don't use the app to store unlawful content.

5. Our content

Lessons, sentences, audio recordings, and app design are our intellectual property (or licensed to us). Personal, non-commercial use within the app is what you're licensed for — no copying, redistributing, scraping, or bundling the course content elsewhere.

6. Fair use

Don't attempt to disrupt the service, probe or overload our servers, access other users' data, bypass usage limits or premium checks, or use automated tools against the API. We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate accounts that abuse the service; where reasonable we'll warn first.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service reliable, but it's provided "as is" — an independently run app, without guarantees of uninterrupted availability. We may add, change, or retire features. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we will give reasonable advance notice in the app.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence (including EU withdrawal rights as applied through the app store's purchase flow) are unaffected.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially we'll note it in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms. The current version always lives at chegoulisboa.app/terms.
